State Police reopened Route 8 in Seymour after flooding

SEYMOUR — Flooding closed one of the lanes of Route 8 southbound Friday evening in Seymour, according to Connecticut State Police.

State Police warned residents of the flooding around 5:30 p.m. The road was reopened around 6 p.m.

The flooding was between exits 22 and 20 on Route 8 southbound, State Police said. The left lane is open but the right lane is closed because of what State Police said is heavy flooding.

The Department of Transportation responded to the scene to open storm drains, State Police said.

“Please drive safely in this weather,” State Police warned. “With rain and melting snow, be aware of possible flooding and pools of water over highway lanes and roadways.”
