A Rally for Humanity in New Milford will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 7 Whittlesey Ave.
The rally will discuss the current immigration control and policy. It is sponsored by Action Together Network.
It will feature several speakers, including Pastor Alex da Silva Souto, of the United Methodist Church of New Milford; Rabbi Ari Rosenberg, from Temple Sholom New Milford; Rev. Jack Gilpin, of St. John's Episcopal Church; and Megan Goslin, a child trauma expert.
“We, the people, are ready to stand up, speak out and make our voices heard to stop the current zero tolerance enforcement of people seeking asylum in our country,” according to the press release.
The release criticizes the practice of separating children from their families and the inability to reunite them. It also calls out the discharge of immigrant military reservists who were promised citizenship.
“Xenophobia is everywhere and even encouraged by the executive branch,” the release states. “America is broken and we want it fixed.”
