Studio D’s dance company performs at Carnegie Hall

New Milford’s Studio D dance company D-Tour recently made its 2016 debut at Carnegie Hall at the 10th annual Performing Arts Educators Invitational.

This was D-Tour’s second performance on the legendary stage.

The dance company performed Jan. 16 under the leadership of Artistic Director Rebecca Anderson-Darling.

The event showcased a variety of talented dance and choir groups, by invitation only, from across the U.S.

D-Tour performed a piece called “Elastic,” choreographed by Anderson-Darling with a musical arrangement that included works by Sia, Beethoven, Philip Glass and Lisbeth Scott.

“Ms. Anderson-Darling’s choreography and D-Tour’s exposition set the bar for the evening,” said Matt Straub, PAE’s artistic director.

The D-Tour Dance Company is comprised of an experienced group of Studio D dancers with a rich background in modern, contemporary and ballet dance styles.

Emphasis is placed on creating choreography that highlights storytelling and partnering in a positive atmosphere and to offer an uplifting experience to both local and out-of-town audiences.

D-Tour may be seen in the New Milford area in future performances in area schools, as well as at the spring performance of “Mary Poppins” and “Fairy Tales” at New Milford High School June 5-6.
