Brewster man charged with attacking taxi driver

SOUTHEAST - A Brewster man who police said assaulted a taxi driver with a knife has been arrested.

Police said Manuel Estabon, 43, was charged with first-degree assault and several other felonys for an incident that occured around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday. Police said they received a call from a taxi driver who reported that he had driven Estabon to a bank to get cash to pay for the fare when the attack occured.

Authorities said Estabon attacked the driver with a knife before they reached the bank. The driver suffered wounds to his face, neck and hands but was reported to be in stable condition at a nearby hospital.

Estabon was held on a $150,000 cash bail or a $300,000 bond.
